Born and raised in the North Carolina mountains, David Forkner, grew up fishing the abundant mountain streams and lakes of the southern Appalachians. While attending Appalachian State University in Boone, NC David found his passion for fly fishing mountain streams and helping others discover the sport by taking friends and family whenever possible.
After college David, his wife Bonnie and golden retriever Toaster, moved to Colorado and eventually California. After a few years out west, David found himself missing his home waters and decided to move back to North Carolina to raise a family and set roots. David lived in Brevard, NC for four years, spending countless days exploring and learning the surrounding waters. Finally David, Bonnie, Toaster and two newest editions - 3 year old son Bear and daughter Ollie, have chosen to settle for good in their home town of Franklin North Carolina.
Over the last 15 years, David has dedicated every spare moment to exploring and learning his surrounding waters. Whether hiking to remote headwaters or floating a roaring river, David has a true passion for all things fishing. Primarily focusing his efforts on fly fishing for trout and smallmouth bass, David has a natural ability to read water and deliver proper fly presentation. In addition to putting you on fish, David is passionate about the outdoors and would love to show you around one of the most beautiful places on earth.
David's gift to his best man was a guided float trip on the Watauga River. This trip was a life changing experience for David, opening his eyes to the value of fishing with a local guide. It was on this trip that David knew someday he wanted to become a guide and share this amazing experience with others.
